Happy Black History Month 2026!
Dear All:
Please take a deep, slow breath into your lower belly, and let it out very, very slowly.
Despite the ongoing daily assault to our minds and bodies, our spirits must remain strong. This moment in the United States is not new, but it is critical that we keep pushing back against racism, xenophobia, and all forms of oppression in whatever ways we can. We can do that by being in community with each other, among other things.
This Black history month, join me in celebrating and uplifitng people of African descent, and commit to learning about the history of the U.S., as it will make what is happening today make a lot more sense. The foundation of the U.S. is anti-Blackness and anti-Indigenous oppression. And, as some in our community say: we ain’t new to this, we true to this.
Let’s learn about it, and then break it down one day, one policy, and one moment at a time. To that end, you can read more about how I C E is Mimicking 19th Century Slave Patrols here.
In an upcoming newsletter, I plan to share more about all of the work that I do, in addition to my Journey to Nia work. In the meantime, if you’re interested in leadership coaching through a lens of culture, race, and equity, I now have 2 slots open for clients. I am also open for one early childhood or non-profit org looking for organizational/program assessment and/or consultation/advisement.

February is usually a busy month for me- even though Black history is ALL YEAR LONG, and this month is no exception.
The first week of February is also the Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action- the week that inspired me to create the Early Childhood Black Lives Matter at School Symposium in 2019.
The Symposium was the seed that inspired me to create and grow the Jourmey to Nia curriclum and experience.
Below are fliers for some of what I’m participating in and want you to know about, share, and join me in, if you’re able. If you have an event you’d like to share, please reply to this email with the info.
*A special shout out about the Summer Luna-Sol Spiritual Retreat. I will be attending for the third time this July. In addition to getting year-round spiritual and health support through Zayda’s reiki healing circles and coaching, her retreats have become a gorgeous moment of rest and restoration for me each year. You can read a bit about my first retreat experience, and I’m always happy to share more, including my own journey to becoming a Level 2 attuned reiki practitioner and healer.
