About Takiema

Takiema Bunche-Smith, MS Ed, MPA

 

CEO and Founder, Takiema Bunche Smith has worked as an executive leader, adviser, coach, and educator for over two decades. Her personal mission is to create a space for individuals to understand their personal capacity to effect change in society at the intersections of research, policy, and practice with a focus on equity, care, and joy for all. She expertly guides people and institutions to connect and commit to anti-oppression and racial equity for all.

 

In her role as Founder and CEO of Anahsa Consulting, Takiema is a highly sought after speaker, panelist, and thought partner on the topics such as leadership, child and adult identity development, centering Black children’s joy and agency, arts as a vehicle for healing and social change, parent/caregiver empowerment and anti-Blackness in education and society. She has been interviewed for various news outlets such as Pix11 News and Al-Jazeera and has written numerous articles published in outlets such as The Washington Post and Chalkbeat NY.

In 2017, Takiema began to serve as a culturally and racially responsive consultant to the Early Childhood division, and she now supports the Social Impact Programs, the Learning and Engagement Programs, among others. In 2022, Takiema became an Adjunct Assistant Professor at NYU Wagner School of Public Service, teaching the Strategic Leadership course to Executive Masters in Public Administration students.
